I loved season 1 but so far season 2 is much more creative. The premiere had me balling. Very powerful episode.June 16, 2018 at 8:52 pm #1202567239

The show is nice. I didn’t watch any season 1 episodes, but for some reason I ended up watching the first 2 from season 2.
Jonathan is awful, annoying and tries way too hard. The other 4 are…fine, I guess?. In any group of 5 somebody has to be boring and I guess that’s the interior design guy. Not that the other 3 are much better, but at least I remember them and Jonathan.
I liked the original, these guys wish they could be as fun, funny or really, truly annoying as Carson was. They could never.
But yeah, it’s a nice show.June 18, 2018 at 12:30 pm #1202568141
Watched season 1 reboot a couple months ago. It’s fine for a new era, I guess. Jonathan really is a grating “personality,” and comparing him with Carson, there is no comparison, TBH. The food guy is useless compared to Ted. Style guy brings some international flair to the proceedings, so cool there. The design guy kind of blends in the background at times. Karamo intrigues me the most. His “life-coaching” is pretty obnoxious in stretches, but I like the dynamic of having a minority voice here, which was a common concern of the original for being too lily-white. It made for a pretty awkward and eye-rolling episode from last season where the makeover subject was a Trump voter cop guy from Georgia (where all the makeovers take place). The opening scene had the guys pulled over by the guy’s cop friend who requested the makeover. Karamo was instantly rattled, for good reason. After some tense moments, the cop was like, “Psych!” No bueno. Then there was this car talk between Karamo and the makeover guy where they tried to “learn” from each other. “Not all blacks are criminals.” “Well, not all white cops are racist.” Okay, whatever. Karamo conceded far more ground than the other guy did. The aims there were problematic and muddy, which I guess is the “point” of basing this in Trump country instead of NYC. Anyways. Might check out season 2 when I have some spare time later this summer.June 19, 2018 at 9:31 am #1202568724

Jonathan is my role model.
Jonathan is my role model.
Jonathan Van Ness is EVERYTHING … he is not only the best one of the guys he is the most confidant and i feel like he is able to give the ” subject” the most info for their lives … Yes he is over the top and alot but i appreciate him being him and being able to be himself in some of the settings they put them in is daunting and i applaud him for his work.

I think this show is amazing …. I never watched the Og show ( besides a few) so i have very little reference as to what it used to be .
Im almost done with Season 2 and i think its all been brilliant . Not only is it entertaining but i think its educational. As far as the guys go … yeah at times they can be too much or annoying , but its a tv show and they need people to watch .. i think the five are all different and bring a different vibe to the show which i think is good .

Just finished watching the first ep, and this show has been missing from my life. Really great show. Hopefully it hits the Emmys.June 29, 2018 at 9:41 am #1202576446
Why is Antoni there? lol He’s not even a chef or cook or whatever, I’m sure of that. I feel like he had nothing to offer, so they went with this.June 30, 2018 at 1:57 pm #1202577268
Isn’t there one that is like a lifestyle guru? Wasn’t that Jay’s job in the original? That’s the most useless one if you ask me.July 1, 2018 at 12:55 am #1202577394
There are times when I think all 5 are fake af, but I think the most genuine ones are the MVP Jonathan and Bobby. Antoni and Keramo are so unnecessary, Antoni isn’t a cook or chef or whatever and Keramo being “culture” is dumb. The only useful ones are Tan and Jonathan tbh. I doubt Bobby actually does anything about the house, it’s obviously the production doing everything.July 21, 2018 at 9:22 am #1202591404

He is. He is about to open his own restaurant and he actually worked directly under the last food and wine expert for Queer Eye. His recipes in the first season were simple because the people they were helping can only do simple. He got more complex in season 2.
