It’s been announced that Andy Serkis will direct a new film adapation of George Orwell’s novel Animal Farm for Netflix. No casting has been announced yet, but all the animal characters will be played by actors via motion capture performances. http://deadline.com/2018/08/animal-farm-andy-serkis-directs-netflix-george-orwell-matt-reeves-1202438261/

For anyone who still remembers the novel after reading it in high school, make sure to list your dream casting for the characters before official casting is announced.

I loved this book and cannot freaking wait for this movie! Holy shit, I hope this is an Emmy contender because I think it would be a lock for a TV Movie nomination considering how weak that category always is.

I just know I want Ian McShane to play Napoleon, he has the right kind of voice for it.

    Perhaps Kelsey Grammer as Snowball?

I think if Donald Sutherland were to play Old Major that would be really cool.

I suggest Simon Russell Beale for Squealer.

Sylvester Stallone would be well cast as the strong and naive Boxer.

    Saoirse Ronan for Mollie please!

Note to myself: Don’t ever feed the trolls. Don’t get involved in others drama. Don’t let myself be swayed by others predictions, trust my gut more often!

Note to all others: If you don’t happen to like me, ignore me. It is that simple.

If Serkis decides to use an all-British cast, I can at least envision the following: Ian McKellen as Old Major, Benedict Cumberbatch as Napoleon, Ben Kingsley as Snowball, Jude Law as Squealer, Emma Thompson as Clover, Tom Hardy as Boxer, Evanna Lynch as Mollie, Michael Gambon as Benjamin, and James Corden as Moses.

He should’ve done this instead of Mowgli. Which is now a “Netflix Original Film”. So embarrassing. I mean it’ll get an audience that it probably wouldn’t have gotten in theaters, but the more you justify this the worse it gets. How will it get its money back? Why make a film like this when The Jungle Book had to be further along, enough for him to stop this?

Did nobody tell him about Ants, Deep Impact and that second Capote film?

Anyway. Hopefully nobody was doing Animal Farm already.

Yeah, I don’t think Mowgli will come close to what Jon Favreau accomplished with his version of The Jungle Book 2 years ago. Animal Farm definitely feels like a better fit for Serkis; he has the kind of experience with motion capture that no other director has, since he’s been doing it himself many times.

Napoleon is going to be a fun role for anyone but I really hope it’s Liam Neeson.
